Following the groundbreaking success of Mission Gusheshe, where Dream Drive sent a model of the iconic BMW E30 325i into the stratosphere, the platform has achieved another milestone – delivering its first dream car to a lucky South African winner.
Dream Drive, South Africa’s first skill-based dream car competition platform, announced its inaugural winner after the competition closed on 10 December. There were 20 extraordinary vehicles up for grabs with the round being won by a ticket for the Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI — a car the winner from Thembisa had long aspired to own.
“I’ve always dreamt of owning a GTI,” said the emotional winner, overwhelmed with gratitude as football legend and Dream Drive launch ambassador Siphiwe Tshabalala and the Dream Drive team orchestrated a surprise moment, planned with the help of the winner’s brother.
A transparent and skilled judging process
Dream Drive’s commitment to fairness and transparency shone throughout the competition. On 11 December, five independent professional South African judges, supervised by legal representatives, determined the winning position in the Spot the Ball challenge. By averaging their skilled picks, the exact winning coordinate was revealed, identifying the closest ticket as the winner.
“Dream Drive is all about rewarding skill and making the impossible possible. It’s about creating those life-changing moments that stay with people forever,” said Steve Tyler, co-founder of Dream Drive.
A dream delivered in style
The winning moment in the inaugural competition was nothing short of amazing. The Dream Drive team, Tshabalala, and the winner’s brother worked together to create an unforgettable experience to mark this once-in-a-lifetime event.
“This is what dreams are made of,” said Tshabalala. “To be part of a moment where someone’s life is forever changed is incredibly powerful. Dream Drive has created something truly special here.”

Start 2025 with a bang!
Dream Drive’s second competition is now live, offering 20 dream cars to play for. There are several exciting additions joining the lineup. These include the Toyota Hilux Raider, Jetour Dashing, Fiat 500, and Chery Tiggo 7 Pro that compliments the Tiggo 3 Pro.
The competition closes on 12 January 2025, with the next winner driving into the new year in style.
