Representing another step forward in our commitment to providing enhanced premium commercial vehicles to the local market, the new Vito is here to power South African businesses forward with a level of versatility and quality that sets a new benchmark in the midsize van segment.” – Marinus Venter, General Manager of Product & Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Vans South Africa
The new Vito: Comprehensive upgrade in design, comfort and functionality
The new Vito displays a clearly sharpened premium character. With its striking new design and updated convenience features, the upgrades to the Vito ensure it remains at the top of its segment. The vehicle features new and expanded driver assistance functions to drastically increase comfort and operability. Moreover, the Vito represents a substantial advancement in connectivity, giving Mercedes-Benz commercial customers access to cutting-edge digital networking solutions that enhance both convenience, efficiency and safety.
For the first time, the new Vito includes the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system as standard in all variants, bringing state-of-the-art digital networking to the medium-sized commercial van segment. Thanks to this update, the new Vito has a 10.25-inch central display that can be operated intuitively by touch. The instrument cluster has a colour display that clearly shows all relevant information. It can be conveniently operated using the touch control panels on the new steering wheel. Now, commercial customers in the midsize van segment can also benefit from modern digital connectivity, including a wide range of Digital Extras that further enhance comfort and relaxed driving.
Furthermore, the new Vito makes a statement with its new exterior and interior design. Characterised by digitisation, the cockpit of the new Vito has a striking new design, featuring a redesigned instrument panel with a touchscreen, new stylish air vents and a new generation of steering wheels. The new Vito now comes standard with leather seating, elevating the vehicle’s interior with an air of elegance and comfort. The new centre console also offers a removable cup holder, two USB-C ports and open storage areas as optional features.
On the exterior, the new Vito immediately stands out with its contemporary new look. The further-developed design gives the Vito a more distinctive and unique optical position as the premium selection in its segment. The new front design is characterised by a powerfully drawn bumper and a new radiator grille. With these updates, the Vito now boasts a sleek and dynamic new look, perfectly aligning with the sophisticated image that discerning businesses seek.
Five new exterior paint colours are available for the Vito, including, alpine grey and vintage blue. The portfolio of paint colours includes a total of 15 colours.
With a gross vehicle weight of just 2.8 to 3.2 tonnes, the Vito remains the nifty all-rounder among midsize vans. The new Vito will continue to be available in three variants as a Panel Van, Mixto and Tourer, and two equipment lines. With this variety, along with the ability to convert the new Vito in collaboration with South Africa’s range of approved VanPartners, the new Vito seamlessly fulfils the requirements of different industries – from tradespeople to maintenance and customer services as well as fleet operators through to upfitters of special transporters for food or emergency medical services. The Vito offers an impressive loading volume of up to 6.6 m³ as a panel van and up to eight seats in the Tourer variant. Additionally, with a vehicle height under two meters, the Vito can easily navigate urban environments and parking structures, making it a versatile and practical choice for businesses.
Finally, recognising that in business, time is a valuable asset, Mercedes-Benz Vans has significantly simplified equipment selection by enhancing standard features and fine-tuning package options to suit specific customer needs. This has drastically reduced the hassle of choosing individual options, creating a streamlined shopping experience for commercial customers.
The new Vito is available from R874,000.
Speaking of the future of the Vito model, Venter concludes, “Currently, our combustion-engine Vito remains the sole model in our midsize van lineup for the foreseeable future. However, our unwavering commitment to our electric strategy persists and we eagerly anticipate the upcoming introduction of the eSprinter later this year.”
