GlobalData announces top M&A financial and legal advisers in automotive sector during Q1-Q3 2023

GlobalData has announced the latest updates to its financial and legal adviser league tables, which rank advisers by the total value and volume of merger and acquisition (M&A) deals they advised on in the automotive sector during Q1-Q3 2023. See the rankings and findings below.

Rothschild & Co top M&A financial adviser in automotive sector during Q1-Q3 2023

Rothschild & Co was the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial adviser in the automotive sector during the first three quarters (Q1-Q3) of 2023 by value as well as volume, according to the latest financial advisers league table by GlobalData, which ranks financial advisers by the value and volume of M&A deals on which they advised.

Based on its Financial Deals Database, the leading data and analytics company reveals that Rothschild & Co achieved the leading position by advising on three deals worth $650.8 million.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Rothschild & Co witnessed a decline in both deals volume and value during Q1-Q3 2023 compared to Q1-Q3 2022, but the decline was more pronounced in the latter. Nevertheless, it registered the highest average deal value among all the top 10 advisers by value and volume.”

An analysis of GlobalData’s Financial Deals Database reveals that EF Hutton Financial Corp. occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $225 million worth of deals, followed by Scotia Capital Inc and TD Securities jointly occupying the third position by value, with each of them advising on $167.8 million worth of deals.

Meanwhile, Houlihan Lokey occupied the second position in terms of volume with three deals, followed by Stifel/KBW with three deals, Lincoln International with three deals, and EF Hutton Financial Corp. with two deals.

Legal Advisers

Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton and White & Case top M&A legal adviser in automotive sector by value and volume during Q1-Q3 2023

Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton and White & Case were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal advisers in the automotive sector during the first three quarters (Q1-Q3) of 2023 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest legal advisers league table by GlobalData, which ranks legal advisers by the value and volume of M&A deals on which they advised.

Based on its Financial Deals Database, the leading data and analytics company  reveals that Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton achieved the leading position in terms of value by advising on $2 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, White & Case led in terms of volume by advising on a total of five deals.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “White & Case witnessed growth in the number of deals advised by it during Q1-Q3 2023 compared to Q1-Q3 2022. It’s ranking by volume also improved from 19th place in Q1-Q3 2022 to the top position in Q1-Q3 2023.

“Similarly, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton also registered a massive jump in the total value of deals advised by it, and resultantly, its ranking by value also improved significantly in Q1-Q3 2023 compared to Q1-Q3 2022.”

An analysis of GlobalData’s Financial Deals Database reveals that Sullivan & Cromwell occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $1.3 billion worth of deals, followed by  Gleiss Lutz with $1.1 billion, Galicia Abogados SC with $1.1 billion, and Clifford Chance with $700 million.

Meanwhile, Kirkland & Ellis occupied the second position in terms of volume with four deals, followed by Jones Day with four deals, while Advokatfirman Vinge, CMS and Latham & Watkins jointly occupied the fourth position by volume, with each of them advising on three deals.
