Antananarivo, Madagascar, September 25, 2023 – Ford employees, through MATERAUTO, the brand’s official representative in Madagascar, are participating in Global Caring Month, Ford Motor Company’s community service initiative that runs throughout the month of September.
Ford and Ford Fund, with a $10,000 contribution and in partnership with Tibu Africa, are rolling out Global Caring Month 2023 in Madagascar and are committed to supporting communities. This year’s program benefits disadvantaged youth aged 7 to 14 and their families. From 14 to 30 September 2023, Tibu Africa, with the support of Ford, is rolling out a series of activities specifically designed to improve the quality of life and future prospects of these young people. This initiative reflects Ford’s commitment to transforming lives through education, encouraging creativity and innovation, and promoting positive social values.
In preparation for Global Caring Month 2023 in September, Ford employees design, plan and coordinate community service projects that reflect the needs of the communities where they live. Ford Fund, the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company, provides grants to nonprofit organizations identified by employees to support the purchase of tools and supplies needed to complete the project.
Previous projects have focused on building houses or renovating schools, cleaning parks, installing drinking water systems, distributing fresh food, and much more. This year, Ford awarded more than US$830,000 to 85 employee-selected nonprofits and non-governmental organizations in 31 countries around the world as part of this annual initiative.
“Global Caring Month provides employees with meaningful ways to help strengthen communities and positively impact people’s lives,” said Achraf El Boustani, Ford General Manager North and Sub-Saharan Africa. “Our long-standing partnership with Tibu Africa is the foundation of our commitment to these initiatives. Over the years, we have built strong relationships with this partner who shares our vision of improving communities. This long-term collaboration allows us to work hand in hand with local actors to bring about lasting change. For our employees and partners, this means an opportunity to get actively involved and contribute to projects that have a direct impact on the lives of citizens. We strongly believe that these joint efforts strengthen not only our communities, but also our business by strengthening our connection with the values and needs of our neighbors. “
Frederic Schaffner, Chairman and CEO of MaterAuto said, “Humility, Integrity, Creativity, Solidarity are the values of Materauto and this support from Ford and Ford Fund to Tibu Africa confirms the alignment of the manufacturer’s values with those of Materauto, proud to be associated with this action.”
“Tibu Africa is honored to partner with Ford to host Global Caring Month. Our goal is to provide quality education and enriching activities to young people and their families. By focusing on areas such as robotics, coding, sports, art, leadership workshops and foreign languages, we aim to develop the soft skills needed to succeed in an ever-changing world. In total, this humanitarian project will seek to reach 500 direct beneficiaries. We strongly believe that education through sport is the key to unlocking the potential of every individual,” says Mohamed Amine Zariat, Ashoka Fellow and President of Tibu Africa. Global Caring Month is a flagship program of the Ford Volunteer Corps. Managed by the Ford Fund, the Ford Volunteer Corps is a global network of thousands of Ford employees and retirees who have accumulated more than 1.7 million volunteer hours on six continents since 2005.
