Women with Drive – STRIVE

In 2022, MasterDrive hosted their 6th Women with Drive event at the Festival of Motoring for the first time. In partnership with Castrol, the event will be returning to the Festival again this year. The annual Women with Drive hybrid event will again take place during August in honour of the ladies working in the transport industry during Women’s Month! There will also be a special bonus for attendees: presentations will be held in the pit.

This year, our theme is WOMEN WITH DRIVE – STRIVE! The CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, says: “As society encounters a number of new and growing challenges, MasterDrive is taking the opportunity to shine the attention on ladies within the industry whose determination to strive to be their best paid off.

“Attendees can look forward to a panel discussion: Strive for independence – reintegrating drivers back onto our roads. This will feature a number of occupational therapists helping others, whose ability to drive is affected by physical challenges, to strive to regain the independence driving gives one,” says Herbert.

The highly anticipated line-up of speakers will spread inspiration to each individual to strive to be their best

  • Tlhabi Ntlha, Executive: Leasing Operations at Avis: Striving to change the rental industry
  • Jennifer Heyes, Marketing Director at Castrol Africa: Striving for leadership and empowerment
  • Charlie Naidoo, Finance Director at Castrol Africa: Striving to reach the top
  • Shivani Pillay, Company Director, Michelin Connected Fleet SA: Inspiring to strive
  • Fiddy Gey van Pittius, Head of Cycle at Virgin Active: A fitter driver is a better driver
  • Interview with special guest speakers:  Nicole van Aswegen and Morongoa Mahope, professional motorcycle racers

The Women with Drive event holds a special place at MasterDrive because it is also an opportunity to show support for a worthy cause. “We will again support an initiative through the event. iSipho Sami, which is ‘My Gift’ when translated, is an initiative that encourages drivers to strive to be the best they can be.

“Drivers can purchase a sticker which can be placed in their line of vision in their car as a physical reminder to obey the laws of the road and to be the best possible driver. It is a gift that one gives to their family by committing to do everything within their power to return home to them at night.”

MasterDrive looks forward to welcoming attendees and viewers to Women with Drive – STRIVE. “The event has grown enormously in the seven years that we have been running it. We are proud to see the enthusiasm displayed for the 2023 event and look forward to welcoming everyone,” says Herbert.
